Hair Breakage is always something that we do not want to see once our client sits down in the chair. It is not the best look and leads to frizzy hair or stunted hair growth. We hate not being able to do a certain style because of hair that has been broken off. If you are able to prevent hair breakage in the beginning you will also solve your other hair issues!
Here are some suggestions below:
- Moisturize
If you are rocking your curly hair, then you more than likely need a lot of moisture in your hair! Make sure to do a deep conditioner as well as a leave in conditioner. Find that your hair loses moisture throughout the day? Make sure to seal it with oil.
- Detangle! Detangle! Detangle!
Wet hair is easier to detangle but is also more fragile. Make sure that your hair is protected with product before detangling it. Try a moisturizing and detangling leave in conditioner. When you run into tangles, be patient. Take time with each knot so that you don’t yank it out of your hair. Ripping knots will instantly break off your hair.
- Use heat occasionally
Are you using a lot of heat on your hair outside of your hair appointments? You don’t have to steer away from it completely but please use heat sparingly! If you are using heat on your hair pretty often then make sure to use some kind of heat protectant to protect your hair from damage. If you are washing your hair outside of appointments then air-dry your hair a bit before you blow it. Try not to use heat on your hair more than once a week!
- Does your ponytail have to be tight?
We know that a ponytail is a go to style for when you don’t have a lot of time to style your hair. High ponytails often are stressful on your hair and pull on your strands. All of the tension from tight ponytails can lead to breakage and hair loss. If you are wearing ponytails often then make sure to also give it break and let it hang loose at times.
- Take care of your health!
Healthy hair starts from the inside out. A well-balanced diet and good water intake will definitely benefit your hair to stop it from breakage. Stress is also something that can lead to breakage! Additionally, lack of certain vitamins can lead to breakage, Make sure that you are eating well and also finding a way to manage your stress.
